With 114 sessions and 350 presenters from 42 different countries, ISHPSSB 2003 in Vienna was the largest in our society’s history. For many participants, this was their first ISHPSSB meeting, and I hope that they will join us again in Guelph in 2005 or Exeter in 2007. Under Rob Skipper’s direction, the Program Committee assembled a rich collection of sessions and papers. It was wonderful to have such a variety of papers to attend, even if it made choosing which to see and which to miss all the more difficult. True to our society’s interdisciplinary nature, the program presented an array of intellectual perspectives. Indeed, this disciplinary diversity was the Vienna Rathaus, site of a welcoming reception for ISHPSSB theme of the first plenary session. The second plenary members.
