In 2003 she fin- ished with distinction Academy of Music I.J. Paderewski in Poznań (class of prof. A. Łęgowski). In 2005 She finished with “Premier Prix” postgraduated studies France in Paris under the patron- age of Patrick Gallois. Ewa Murawska is prizewinner of several flute and chamber music competitions (Paris, Uelzen, Brescia), and a holder of international scholarships, including the artistic and science grants from the Gouverment of Italy (2003), France (2005), Danmark (2008), G.F.P.S (Gemeintschaft für studentischen Austausch in Mittel, und-Osteuropa), Polish Ministry of Culture, Polish Ministry of Research and Science (two times) and Schol- arship and Training Fund. She gives regularly masterclasses in Poland, Iceland, Norway and Germany; her concert’s activity includs recitals in Poland, Germany, Norway, Denmark, Belgium, France, Iceland, Bulgaria and Italy. She had recorded 14 CD’s, with artists, like PY.Artaud (France), A. Hara ldsdóttir (Iceland) and the European Flute Ensemble. She is an author of eleven books, like “Cadenzas and Ornamentation”, “The Flute in Iceland”, “Playing the Flute with Chopin, Grieg and Sveinsson”. In 2016 she opened in the Polish-Norwegian Culture Center and Gallois Flute Studio in Poznań, where regularly international cultural events are organized. She is currently an assistant professor at the Ignacy Jan Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań (Poland) and gives concerts, lectures and masterclasses all over the world. EWA BAUM, PhD., professor of Poznan University of Medical Sciences, where she is head of the Department of Social Scien- ces and Humanities. The research fields which are of interest to her include the consequences and the socio-cultural, ethi- cal and legislative contexts of the advancement of biomedicine. In particular it covers transplantology, regenerative medicine, reproductive medicine, genetics and genetic counselling, as well 9 as renal replacement therapy and the quality of life of chronically ON THE NEED FOR TRANSCULTURAL EDUCATION ill patients and their subjective expectations regarding medical, psychological and social assistance. Ewa Baum has authored several books, including Komórki macierzyste jako bioetyczny problem współczes nej medycyny (Stem Cells as a Bioethical Prob- lem of Contemporary Medicine) (2010) and Jakość życia chorych poddawanych terapii nerkozastępczej (The Quality of Life of Renal Replacement Therapy Patients) (2017), as well as over a hundred papers published in Polish and international periodicals. She has also edited numerous publications. She has received numerous research awards, including one for the best abstract on haemo- dialysis from the International Society for Haemodialysis (USA 2015), in addition to teaching awards, e.g. Lecturer of the Year at Poznan University of Medical Sciences (2018). Ewa Baum teaches subjects concerning ethics, bioethics, multiculturality and modern medical didactics in both Polish and English courses. She has completed the Master of Didactics in Excellent Teaching programme at Aarhus University, Denmark (2020). She is a mem- ber of international research teams and associations, including the European Society for Philosophy of Medicine and Health
