Father’s Focus Fr. Haake hopes to offer a second opportunity for Spiritual Exercises 861 N. Socora | Wichita, Kansas 67212 | 316.722.4404 Many of you have noticed a guest January 28, 2018 priest, Fr. Haake, either at Mass or 4th Sunday in Ordinary Time walking around the neighborhood. Since last September Fr. Haake has been offering what is known as the Spiritual Exercises. I have invited Fr. Haake to offer a second round to open the possibility for more persons to benefit from this unique opportunity. Venerable Fr. Pio Bruno Lanteri, Founder of the Oblates of the Virgin Mary, stated: 'Doing the Spiritual Exercises properly will bring one to be a saint, a great saint and quickly a saint.' The Spiritual Exercises, developed by St. Ignatius of Loyola, are usually done as a thirty day silent retreat. But many cannot spend a straight month in a re- treat house meditating 5 hours per day. Yet adaptations can be made over a period of 5 months with one meditation per day in your own home or church. Fr. Haake has hosted one group in Wichita from mid-September 2017 to mid-February 2018. If there is enough interest Fr. Haake will return to Wichita for a second round sometime in 2018, perhaps mid-March to mid-August. Would you be interested in learning more about this opportunity? On Tuesday, January 30 at 6:30 p.m. in Clare Hall at St. Francis of Assisi parish, Father Thomas Haake, OMV will host an informational night about the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius. Fr. Haake will explain the Exercises, give some practical details on what is involved and then answer any questions about the retreat! This invitation is for anyone interested in knowing more about participating in the Spiritual Exercises. Some interest also has been shown in holding a teen or children's version of the retreat...this too will be considered. “It is not a magical or mythical process, but a tried-and-true approach to the Gospel of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
