The new, multiplatform PBS Kids channel and web services begins January 16! This unique experience provides children and their families with round- the-clock, award-winning, PBS Kids programming, whether through television or web. PBS Kids is dedicated to serving all children with high quality, innovative educational content. As children’s viewing rises throughout the day—with highest viewing occurring when PBS does not cur- rently air children’s content—PBS recognized the need to reach children and their families during the early evening kids “primetime” (5-9 pm) and on weekends. And while television is still the primary source for video viewing, an increasing number of children are accessing video content through digital and mobile devices. Parents know that PBS KIDS makes a difference in their children’s lives, which is why so many have said they would value having access to our content throughout the day. Television continues to be the most widely used platform for children’s educational content, especially among low-income families,” said PBS Presi- dent and CEO Paula Kerger. “The new PBS KIDS 24/7 channel and live stream offered by local member stations ensure that educational media is available to all families, all the time and via a platform that works for them. Given that 54% of all children nationwide do not have the opportunity to attend preschool, provid- ing access is a critical element of our public service mission.” With this new access, all children will be able to view PBS Kids programming, whether they watch on television or the web. Plus, web viewers will also get the chance to play games and do activities related to the show they just watched. Favorite PBS Kids shows such as Wild Kratts, Odd Squad, Na- ture Cat, Ready Jet Go!, and Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, as well as the latest new hit Splash and Bubbles, will all be includ- ed in the new programming. You can find the new PBS Kids station on channel 12.2. WILL will also continue its kids lineup on our primary channel 12.
