NLIT Summit 2020 National Laboratories Information Technology October 13-16, 2020 PROGRAM Keynote Speakers Rocky Campione, CIO, DOE Rocky Campione was selected in July 2019 to serve as Chief Information Officer (CIO) for the Department of Energy (DOE). In this position, he oversees the Department’s information technology (IT) portfolio, serves as an advisor to the Deputy Secretary and Secretary, and leads and manages the various functions within the Office of the Chief Information Officer. Mr. Campione has extensive experience with managing and implementing IT and cybersecurity solutions in executive roles across both the Federal Government, as well as in corporate leadership roles in the private sector. Brian Abrahamson, CIO,PNNL Brian Abrahamson is an Associate Laboratory Director & the Chief Information Officer for PNNL, leading a talented team of professionals that span Communications & Public Affairs, Information Technology, Research Computing and Cyber Security. He is responsible for setting and implementing a cohesive strategy to amplify the visibility of PNNL's research - ensuring that all audiences, internal and external, undestand the Lab’s mission and how our science transforms the world. The convergence of Communications and Information Technology at PNNL recognizes that as the world moves increasingly online, the laboratory must be increasingly savvy in how we engage our stakeholders and audiences through digital channels. Douglass East, CIO, LLNL Doug East is the Laboratory’s Chief Information Officer (CIO). Mr. East is responsible for the strategic direction, leadership, and management of all enterprise information technology (IT) activities, including business applications, unclassified networks and associated services, telecommunications, cyber security, customer service desk, and data center operations. As the Laboratory's CIO, Mr. East serves as a member of the Lab's senior management team. Bob Hillier, CIO, INL Mr. Robert Hillier serves as Idaho National Laboratory’s chief information officer (CIO) and director of Information Management. Previously, he was INL’s deputy chief information officer and chief technology officer. Prior to joining INL in February 2016, Hillier was CIO for eight years at the Nevada National Security Site, where he served as chair of the DOE managing information technology for all domestic and international programs. Stephen Warren, CIO, LANL Stephen W. Warren is the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Chief Data Officer at the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC). In his role as CIO, Mr. Warren leads all OCC information technology (IT) programs, supporting the agency's mission of ensuring the safety and soundness of national banks as well as fair and equal access to financial services for all Americans. He became CIO in September 2015. As the Chief Data Officer, Mr. Warren is responsible for data governance and lifecycle data management in support of the OCC mission. John Zepper, CIO, SNL John Zepper has served as Sandia National Laboratories’ Chief Information Officer, Director of Information Technology Services and Acting Associate Labs Director of Information Engineering since September 2020. Prior to that, he led Sandia’s Space Mission Program and was Director of the Labs’ Systems Mission Engineering. During his 34-year career in the National Nuclear Science Administration community, John led Sandia’s Cyber Security Services & Technologies Program, its Nuclear Weapons Classified Computing Service Improvement Program, and its Nuclear Weapons MESA Program core team. He also gained leadership experience in building Advance Simulation & Computing (ASC) supercomputers and in writing parallel code for the Nuclear Weapons ASC Engineering Program. Jeff Atwood, Co-founder of Stack Overflow and Discourse Jeff is a software developer, author, blogger, and entrepreneur. He writes the computer programming blog Coding Horror. He co-founded the question-and-answer model to subjects other than programming. Jeff is also the developer of Discourse, an open source internet discussion platform.
