A Background Note has been published together with the Basic Text on the website. Over the last weekend (5-7 February 2016), Secretaries General of European Justice and Peace Commissions gathered in Lisbon for their annual meeting. On that occasion, a study session was organised, where Professor Carlos Farinha Rodrigues gave a presentation on the matter of inequality in Portugal and Europe. Secretaries General also met His Eminence Cardinal Manuel Clemente, the Patriarch of Lisbon, for an exchange about Church and society in Portugal. The Conference of European Justice and Peace Commissions (Justice and Peace Europe) is the alliance of 31 Justice and Peace Commissions in Europe, working for the promotion of justice, peace and respect for human dignity.
