Tortoise Activity Younger

AT HOME ADAPTATIONS For Pre K-5th Grade The Burmese mountain tortoise is considered the fourth largest land tortoise in the world, reaching up to 70 pounds as adults. These tortoises are sometimes called the “six legged tortoise” because of the very large spurs on their hind legs. The Burmese mountain tortoise is found in moist rainforests, where they spend their days grazing on grasses, vegetables, leaves, and fruits on the forest floor. At Home Activity: 1. Create your very own tortoise shell! Look up pictures of the Burmese mountain tortoise shell and decorate a cardboard box to look like the shell. Try on your new shell and crawl around. 2. Have a tortoise race with a partner! Get down on all fours and crawl like a tortoise. See who gets to the finish line first! 3. Can you find items from the rainforest in your own kitchen? Use the list below to learn what products in your pantry may come from the rainforest. How many items can you find? Which of these items might a Burmese mountain tortoise like to eat? 4.
