Setting the bar at a new record price for Truro, a bunch of 7 well grown Limousin x steers from Messes C Lane & Sons of Gunwalloe, Helston sold at £1,540 per head (pictured front page). Close behind at £1,510 per head, a pen of well- muscled Limousin x single suckled steers on behalf of Messrs R G, E J & G A Williams of St Martin, Helston, (pictured below), both bunches purchased by Messrs W A Rapson & Sons of Tavistock. A noticeable proportion of the older cattle sold in excess of £1,000 per head with the younger stores & stirks seeing real competition from a ring full of buyers with no shortage of grass and fodder available. A excellent run of over 50 quality reared young stirks from Messrs W J & J C Paull of St Columb Minor saw prices rise to £730 per head for Charolais x and British Blue x steers and their heifers to £635 per head.
