Schmidt College for Arts anci Humanities and the build­ ings are dedicated and opened, we should take time out to recognize and thank the man who has made this all possible: Charles Schmidt. • Thanks to him, FAU has a complex that will make this campus the envy of all the other universities in Florida, if not the entire nation. He and his late wife's ongoing generosity and support of this university has made it one of the most exciting places in Florida to learn. At a time when public education is under attack for allegedly failing in its mission to create an educated and informed populace an<:! private schools are increasingly being touted as Editorial Cartoon the last hope for a good education and the only ones worthy of public and private support, Charles Schmidt has demon­ strated that public higher education is worth supporting.
