3 on 3 Basketball Rules Games Will Start Every 30 Minutes. Game

3 on 3 Basketball Rules ● Games will start every 30 minutes. Game length will be 25 minutes with a 5 minute rotation. ● Team with the highest score at the buzzer will win. ● Only players on official roster may play. A team MAY play with only 2 players. (3 on 2) ● Scoring & Fouls: o 2 points per basket inside the arc & 3 points per basket outside the arc. o Free Throws: One shot will be given to a player who is fouled in the act of shooting. A free throw is worth 2 points or 3 points depending on where foul occurs (inside the arc or outside the arc). A missed free throw is a live ball (unless it is an airball). Players should line up per regular foul shot attempt. o Bonus Free Throws: One shot (worth 2 points) will be given to a player fouled on the fifth foul and all subsequent fouls by the opponent. There is no double‐bonus. o Intentional fouls (no matter the time of the game) will result in 2 points PLUS the ball. o If unnecessary or excessive fouls occur, the ref may impose a technical foul (2 points plus the ball) and may ask the player to leave the game temporarily, permanently, or even leave the building. ● Both feet and the ball must go anywhere beyond the 3‐pt line, even to the side, at a change of possession (after a steal, turnover, or rebound). Any other dead ball change of possession (out of bounds, score, foul, etc.), the team must nicely “check the ball” beyond the arc. ● ½ court is out of bounds. ● Lane violations are in effect – 3 seconds maximum. ● Defense obtains all jump balls. ● Rock, paper, scissors will determine first possession. ● Ties will be settled with a sudden death free‐throw shootout with each rostered player shooting in consecutive order. General Rules ● No stalling. Players have 6 seconds to shoot a free throw once the teams are lined up. Players must also keep pace of play up and can be given a technical foul for delay of game. The ref has discretion to impose a 30‐second shot clock with loss of possession as the penalty. ● Substitutions occur after any dead ball or made basket and are done “on the fly.” ● No coaching. Cheering, however, is encouraged. ● No swearing, taunting or other inappropriate verbal or physical behavior. Such behavior may result in player ejection from game, tournament and/or building. ● Unsportsmanlike play can result in: 1) warning; 2) 2‐minute sitting out (ref discretion) and/or 3) ejection from the game, the evening, tournament, or the entire league (site director discretion). Technical fouls will also be assessed. Facility Rules ● Please ensure to follow all facility rules. No Dunking. No food or drink on wood floors. .
