General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade

RESTRICTED MTN/3E/DOC/3 GENERAL AGREEMENT ON 6 December 1974 TARIFFS AND TRADE Special Distribution Multilateral Trade Negotiations GROUP 3(c) - BASIC DOCUMENTATION Prices Received by Producers for Certain Agricultural Products • 1. The present document contains information on producer's prices for certain agricultural products. This information consists partly of data submitted by individual delegations, and partly of data which has been available to the secretariat from other sources. 2. The document has been prepared in accordance with the agreement reached in the Group at its meeting of 25 to 27 February 1974- (MTN/3E/2, paragraph 17) and covers the years 1968 to 1974.. Prices for earlier years were circulated in document Spec(69)36/Rov.l. 3. When selecting products to be included in this document, it has been aimed at covering, as far as possible, the products already discussed under paragraph 4 of the Work Programme (MTN/2), thus trying to meet a wish expressed by the Group at its meeting of 25 to 27 February 1974 (MTN/3E/2, paragraph 20). • MTN/3E/DOC/3 Page 2 Tablu of Contents Face Explanatory note Tabic I Dairy products A. The prices listed in the tables are in general annual averages of prices paid to producers. However, such average annual prices were not always available, and in order to have some indication of price levels also in countries for which price statistics were incomplete with respect to producers' prices, other kinds of prices (e.g. guaranteed prices, basic prices and wholesale prices) were listed in the tables. Whenever such other kinds of prices have been listed an indication of their type is given in the second colunn and next to the nane of the country concerned. A similar indication is also given when the price listed refers to a particular product quality. However, for complete information on the type of prices given and on product qualities and markets to which the prices are refer ring, the original sources used should be consulted, as the indications given in the second column do not aim at giving a complete and detailed information on definitions of products and prices. 2. The periods to which the prices refer are either calendar years or split years beginning in the year indicated on the top of the respective column.
