Murwillumbah District Hospital sits proudly in the heart of Bundjalung country under the shadow of the sacred Wollumbin. The hospital was established in 1903 and the current art deco hospital building was completed and opened in 1939. Over the years, the hospital has undergone a variety of additions and facility upgrades, which includes the establishment of a well-appointed rehabilitation unit, the modernisation of the operating facilities and expansion of the emergency department. The hospital serves the 20,000 locals and is a facility of the Tweed/Byron Health Services Group within the Northern NSW Local Health District.
