The US$6.83-million SWATCH FIVB World Tour is scheduled over an eight-month period starting in April in Brazil and ending in November in Thailand. The US$600,000 Grand Slam presented by SEAT is the fifth men’s event and the fourth of 12 double gender stops on the 2010 SWATCH FIVB World Tour calendar. The Grand Slam presented by SEAT marks the third-straight year that the Russian capital has staged an international Grand Slam stop. Russia staged previous men’s Beach Volleyball events in St. Petersburg, including the 1994 Goodwill Games and SWATCH FIVB World Tour stops in 2005, 2006 and 2007. The first men’s SWATCH FIVB World Tour event was played February 17- 22, 1987 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. · After the Grand Slam presented by SEAT, the 2010 women’s SWATCH FIVB World Tour takes a two-week break before resuming play in Norway for the $600,000 ConocoPhillips Grand Slam in Stavanger. The men will have a week’s break after competing in the second of two gender-specific events in the Czech Republic June 15- 20 at Prague.
