Job Placement The Catholic University of America School of Philosophy April 21, 2017 Since 2000, 66% of our Ph.D. graduates obtained full-time appointments in academia upon completing their degrees. The rest pursued other options; of those, two thirds did so by choice, i.e., they did not seek a full-time academic position in the first place. Of the graduates who obtained full-time appointments in academia: • 75% obtained permanent (P) appointments, i.e., either tenure-track appointments, or non-term-limited appointments in institutions that do not offer tenure. • 17% obtained limited-term (L) appointments, some of them indefinitely renewable. • 8% obtained other (O) positions in academia that are not teaching positions, e.g., an administrative position.
