Ar. Francis Jude Versoza, Fun Run Activity Committee member, also one of the Board of Directors and Past Presidents of UAP DCC was quoted in his FB post saying, “Today, we planned only to run for ourselves but it turned out that we were also running for others”. UAP DCC's first beneficiary from the chapter's Fun Run, a fellow runner, Treshia, who with her team also conducted a Run for a Cause. Two events unexpectedly merging together producing a stronger impact on our causes. The chapter INDEED HAVE A HUGE GOLDEN HEART FOR PEOPLE IN NEED. It was a FUN RUN meant to raise funds for CSR projects and that very special day served its purpose. Like Treshia, let's all continue to #perspire to #inspire ❤. Who knew Fun Runs are more fun with a little bit of rain? A big thanks to our sponsors especially and to everyone who Davies Paints participated in the 1st ever fun run event Fun Run participants from all walks of life taking part in District B5 organized by UAP for their own enjoyment rather than competition❤. DCC. Congratulations to all the finishers! Special mention to private and government agencies such as BFP, PNP, LGU Daraga, DPWH, BUIA students, architects-members of other chapters , Rotary Club of Legazpi and to the charming District Director for B5, Ar. All glory to God!!!♥️♥️♥️♥️ MONTHLY CHAPTER REPORT | This report can be viewed at the UAP Corporate Website www.united-architects.org Page 2 of 13 ACTIVITY NO. 27 3rd DISTRICT COUNCIL MEETING WITH PAST DISTRICT Title of Activity Date AUGUST 31, 2019 DIRECTORS 12 Past District Directors, 1 Current District Director, 7 Chapter Total Attendees Venue Oriental Hotel Legazpi City Presidents and 2 Chapter representatives Objective of the Activity To comply with the Monthly Council Meeting and settle arising issues in the district Type of Activity BM/ GMM Seminar Socio-Civic Others: Seminar & Workshop Activity in line with 4Ps Profession Professional Professional Organization Professional Product Activity in support of the Unity Accountability Professional Excellence UAP corporate thrust Articles, Caption, Details and Photos: The agenda of the Council Meeting with Past District Directors of B5 were the following: 1. District Directorship Rotation, 2. Opening of District Bank Account, 3. District B5 Christmas Party and Team Building and other matters. Fellowship and camaraderie among the attendees were rekindled. The meeting was divided into two parts, the first was a discussion with the PDDs regarding retrieving or recalling of the District Directorship rotation as embodied in a Gentleman’s Agreement and emphasized by PDD Ar. Abam Peña. But tension aroused during the discussion, with each one proving a point while reminiscing realized goals for District B5 including the ones NOT realized in every term of a District Director. The argument was settled when Chapter President of Camarines Sur, Ar. Aldous Modino made a motion to end the discussion and leave the decision to the current district council to settle the matter. This was indeed a sensitive issue to tackle since tension also aroused among the chapter presidents when LC CP Arjay Joquico insisted that Legazpi Chapter be given the chance for District Directorship since he was appointed already as Deputy District Director for the past three years. But he reiterated that it would not necessarily be him, it could be another individual from Legazpi Chapter and will be disclosed once they have it on agenda in one of their board meetings. This may be a good point to ponder on BUT the importance and sanctity of the District Directorship rotation as embodied in a Gentleman’s Agreement must be followed, so DCC CP Ar. Madonna J. Maravillas explained her objection on the idea of a RESET of the rotation since the rightful seat for District Directorship must be for the Daraga Cagsawa Chapter this time and this must not be taken for granted easily by a mere reasoning of LC CP Arjay Joquico. The Presidents of Tabaco Chapter and Sorsogon Kasanggayahan Chapter, however expressed their views and supported the idea of the Legazpi Chapter President. So, a division of the house was set. Only 7 out of 9 chapters were present. Daet Camarines Chapter and Catanduanes Chapter were only represented and during the discussion and voting, the representative of Daet Camarines Chapter were no longer present. Thus, the result was a tie. To break this, current DD for B5 Ar. Christine C. Ordiz made a unanimous decision and made the final choice and preference. She supported the idea of the Legazpi Chapter for a reset of the District Directorship rotation cancelling and nulling what is embodied in a Gentleman’s Agreement stating a reason that the Legazpi chapter can make possible the Best District Award during her term. In lieu of this kind of reasoning, a question was raised by DCC Chapter President Ar. Madonna Maravillas, “Why? Can’t other chapters of B5 make possible this Best District Award? For almost 20 years, UAP DCC had its line of District Directors who paved the way for Model District Award in 2004-2005 under the leadership of Ar. Joseph M. Espinas and the Best Chapter President in 2016- 2017 under Ar. Francis Jude Versoza. Indeed, any chapter can give prestige to District B5 if given the opportunity.” DD Ordiz remained calm and just hoped that she will not be misinterpreted with her words and intentions for District B5. She said that a resolution will be drafted and passed for this final decision made. Each chapter will be given a copy of this resolution and she assured all chapter presidents that her decision has a point of reference in the UAP Constitution and By-Laws to be cited in the resolution to be made. The UAP DCC awaits a copy of this resolution. If everything is cited and justified in the resolution, then UAPDCC would willingly submit and strongly support the final decision made. Truly, the district council meeting was a reminiscence of the history of B5 reuniting, rejoining, reconciling, restoring, harmonizing, bringing together and healing the breach for a united, able and pro-active organization among architects.
