Swift Blue Line Expansion Buses PSRC Regional CMAQ Project The Swift Blue Line Bus Rapid Transit expansion project includes the purchase of expansion buses, speed and reliability improvements along the corridor and extending the line to serve the 185th Sound Transit link light rail station. The Blue Line began service in 2009 and is the highest ridership route in Community Transit’s system carrying of 1.9 million riders in 2019. This high capacity transit service furthers the goals of Community Transit’s adopted 20 year Long Range Transit Plan of creating of network of Bus Rapid Transit service in Snohomish County. The Blue line will intersect with the Green Line and the future (2024) Orange Line to create this important network. This funding request is for $3,200,000 to purchase four Swift Blue Line expansion buses. Benefits: ❖ Swift Blue Line expansion buses will serve the Everett and Lynnwood Regional Growth Centers ❖ Connects to Swift Green Line at Hwy 99 and Airport Road. ❖ Will connect to Swift Orange Line at 196th & Hwy 99. ❖ Will serve Sound Transit’s Link light rail at 185th Street in Shoreline. ❖ Swift Blue Line expansion buses meets the need for high capacity transit service in areas with high employment and residential density, all day high frequency service. ❖ Assists local and regional land use and development goals that identify the need for high capacity transit service in the project area. ❖ Buses will be 60 foot articulated buses with dedicated boarding for wheelchair and bike, on- board bike racks, passive restraint wheelchair systems, roomy and comfortable seating. Project Summary: ❖ Swift Blue Line Buses will be ordered in 2023 for service in 2024 ❖ Community Transit will add new revenue service hours to its system in implementing the Blue Line expansion project. ❖ Swift Blue Line expansion project will be completed in 2024.
