PLANTATION NAVY APPRECIATION DAY On November 3rd The Plantation will host the 12th Annual Navy Appreciation Day Golf Tournament. For those of you new to The Plantation, this event was started 12 years ago - after 9/11 - to show our appreciation to those serving in the War on Terror. Those who are invited (from the 3 local Navy Bases) have been recently deployed in the Mid East. We also include disabled Veterans who are in Jacksonville participating in the Wounded Warrior TRACK Program. Up to 84 Navy & Marine Corp active duty men and women (+ Wounded Warriors) will join us for breakfast, and a scramble golf tournament, followed by a steak lunch with prizes and awards. The event is funded and run on a voluntary basis. The Association contributes our fine facilities and key staff members contribute their services while The Plantation members make individual cash contributions to pay for all event costs (food, beverages, gifts and prizes for the military personnel), and also contribute their time to help run the event. We need volunteers to serve as welcome & registration volunteers, take photos, drive the drink carts, be hole-in-one witnesses, serve breakfast and dinner and help in many other ways. To volunteer please call Marty at (314-1643, 285-0605) or email [email protected]. The Plantation is the talk of the Navy - from the West Coast to the East Coast and beyond - those who have attended previous events talk about how great they were treated and how nice it is to be appreciated. If you have a relative currently serving in the armed forces please send a photo and a little info to Lisa Cameron (543-2989). The photos will be displayed on the day of the event and will, of course, be returned after Navy Day. Please make your check out to Marty Ewing and put Navy Day golf in the “For” line. Send it (with the attached form) to Gary Wilkinson at 172 Plantation Circle South in The Plantation Mail. While donations in the past have ranged from $50 to $1000 any amount is appreciated. ++To be a Plantation playing host, please send a minimum donation of $100. The 28 playing spots will be awarded on a first come basis. Any excess funds (over all expenses) will be donated to Military charities, (USO, Navy & Marine Relief, K9s for Warriors, Wounded Warriors). Any questions call 314-1643 or 285-0605 We, the Navy Appreciation Day Committee, need your help!! LET’S MAKE THIS ANOTHER OUTSTANDING NAVY APPRECIATION DAY!
