With only two owning families in its history, Lagarde was acquired by the Pescarmona family in 1969. TODAY THE WINERY IS RUN BY YOUNG SISTERS SOFIA AND LUCILA PESCARMONA, THE THIRD GENERATION OF THE WINEMAKING FAMILY During the following decades Lagarde focused on defining its particular style of wines. Striving to consistently innovate, Lagarde was the first Latin American producer to plant non-traditional varieties such as Viognier and Moscato Bianco, adding to its unique style. Since 1999, the wines have been under the dedicated supervision of winemaker, Juan Roby, who along with the Pescarmonas enjoys creating high-quality wine made from grapes grown exclusively on the winery-run vineyards. Today, the winery and estate are run by third generation Pescarmonas, sisters Sofia and Lucila Pescarmona. Under their direction, Lagarde creates exceptional terroir-focused wines that reflect a strong sustainable commitment to the land and its people. Some of their wines are from the oldest vineyards in Argentina. They own and manage two vineyards that are more than 100 years- old, dating from 1906 and 1937. The wines of Lagarde are made with grapes from their own managed vineyards, adhering to the special conditions each variety needs in order to achieve its maximum expression. They represent real treasures due to the prestige and grand terroir of the chosen parcels these wines come from. They are the result of history, hard work and constant research in our most unique vineyards. STORY Made from Malbec grapes, which come from a centenary vineyard, planted in1906. The old vines yield better quality grapes, resulting in more expressive, aromatic and concentrated wines. In addition, they have a greater regularity in their production over the years. Generally, these plants have low yield and balanced vigor. The clusters and berries are small, which increases the concentration of polyphenols and aromas of the wine. TECHNICAL INFORMATION Varietals: 100% Malbec Vineyards: Mayor Drummon, Luján de Cuyo PTS WINE91 ADVOCATE Planted in: 1906 Altitude: 850 masl Aging Method: 16 to 18 months in French oak barrels and another 12 months in the bottle Aging Potential: Over 15 years TASTING NOTES Dark red color with violet hues. Aromas of red fruit, menthol, coconut, vanilla and spices from the oak. Velvety smooth with an unctuous mouthfeel, but not too rich. Juicy and prolonged with a lingering aftertaste. STORY This is the second release of their high altitude vineyard Malbec, from Mendoza's most sought after appellation: Gualtallary (Monasterio). With a high concentration of limestone and high altitude sunlight, the selected parcels of this vineyard create an extraordinary wine. This wine is a wonderful example of this appellation; it showcases the true personality, perfume and strong minerality of its place of origin. TECHNICAL INFORMATION Varietals: 100% Malbec Vineyards: Gualtallary, Tupungato PTS WINE93 ADVOCATE Planted in: 2006 and 2007 Altitude: 1380 masl Aging Method: 16 to 18 months in French oak barrels and another 12 months in the bottle Aging Potential: Over 15 years TASTING NOTES Intense red color with violet reflections. Floral aroma with mineral notes. The palate is elegant and bold, with a medium to long finish. The aging in oak barrel lends perfect balance. Each wine is an accurate reflection of a special vineyard located in a micro region of Luján de Cuyo and Valle de Uco. STORY Its high-altitude vines, in Gualtallary (Tupungato), are located near The Andes Mountains, at 1350 masl. This region has a wide temperature range with cool breeze and limestone soil. Purity, restraint, acidity and moderate use of new oak define this wine. TECHNICAL INFORMATION Varietals: 100% Chardonnay Vineyards: Tupungato, Gualtallary – Mendoza PTS WINE94 ADVOCATE Planted in: 2015 Altitude: 1350 masl Aging Method: 40% of the wine spent 12 months in new and used French oak barrels and a part with induced malolactic fermentation. The other 60% was in stainless steel tanks Aging Potential: Over 5 years TASTING NOTES Clear, medium lemon color. Aromas of fresh white peaches, white flowers with a light presence of oak. STORY Bodega Lagarde's history dates back to the early years of grapevine cultivation and the wine industry of Mendoza, Argentina. Established in 1897 and managed by the Pescarmona family since 1970, they have always worked to achieve the same goal of producing the highest quality wines, holding a strong commitment to the land and its people. TECHNICAL INFORMATION Varietals: 40% Malbec, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 10% Syrah Vineyards: Drummond, Pedriel and Agrelo, Luján de Cuyo, Mendoza Planted in: 1906, 1992, 1993 and 1998 Altitude: 850 and 980 masl Aging Method: Aged for 12 months in French oak barrels and another 12 months in the bottle Aging Potential: Up to 10 years TASTING NOTES Bluish-red color with black hues. Complex aroma dominated by ripe red fruits. There are also notes of spices, tobacco and smoke. Elegant in the mouth with rounded tannins. It has good structure and smoothness.
