ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY Purnea University, Purnea which was carved out bifurcating Bhupendra Narayan Mandal University, Madhepura on 18th March 2018 by an act of Bihar Assembly which was notified in Bihar Gazette (Ashadharn) on 17th August 2016 under Bihar State Universities Act (BSU ACT 1976) amended under section 3(1) of Bihar Act 23, 1976 and called the Bihar State Universities Amendment Act 13, 2016. The nomenclature ‘Purnea University’ has sprung from the name of the Purnea district itself. Purnea University is formed to cater the needs of higher education of Purnea Division spread over four districts namely Purnea, Araria, Kishanganj and Katihar. The university envisions to become a globally acclaimed academic and research institution that inspire meaningful transformations to ensure holistic growth and development of the society. The mission of university is to generate a community of scholars for best teaching and learning practice around the world, to inculcate in the learners for ethical, ecological and economic issues of knowledge, to provide knowledge based scientific solutions to satisfy the needs of society and industry. The university is committed to be a world class excellence in education in the coming year. At present university runs in the campus of Purnea College, Purnea but very soon it has its own campus in which offices, residences, sports & cultural spaces, academic & administrative blocks, conference hall, examination hall, library, laboratories, guest house, university health care centre, hostels, canteen, Yoga and Dhyan Kendra, Information and Communication System (ICS) cell, training & placement cell, international affair cell and all other basic amenities will be available. Currently Purnea is a centre of education in the north-east Bihar region. Purnea University comprises of 13 constituent colleges, 33 affiliated colleges including B Ed, Engineering, Management and Medical institutions spread across Purnea Division 2. COMBINED ENTRANCE TEST (CET) 2018 The Purnea University is going to conduct Combined Entrance Test (CET) will be held for admission in different UG & PG vocational courses that are being run by different constituent/ affiliated colleges under Purnea University. Candidates wishing to appear in Common Entrance Test can submit their application online/ offline. Application fee is ₹ 500/- for all categories. Students will have to submit their application fee either by cash or DD in favour of Registrar, Purnea University, Purnia in favour of Purnia. Appearing candidate may also apply but they will have to submit their passing certificate at the time of counselling. They will have to produce evidence of minimum eligibility requirements, failing which their right to appear in counselling would be forfeited. 3. Common Entrance Test will be held in one sitting of 1:30 hrs duration. Question paper will carry multiple choice 100 nos. of questions. There will be no negative marking for wrong answer. Candidates who qualify in written entrance test will be called for counselling on notified date and time. List of successful candidates will publish only on www.purneamahilacollege.in. No postal information will be sent to successful candidates. So, candidates are advised to visit the website regularly. No request for change of date and time of counselling will be entertained except in certain exceptional condition that may be considered by the committee on written request, if possible. Such candidates will have to select the course and college on the availability. 5. Candidates will have to bring original documents along with 2 sets of attested photocopies of documents and three passport size recent colour photographs. List of documents that are required at the time of admission: (i) 10th / Matriculation mark sheet for Date of birth proof. (ii) 12th / 10+2 / Intermediate marks sheet. (iii) Consolidated marks sheet of graduation (only for MBB, MCA Course) (iv) Caste Certificate and Income certificate issued by Govt. of Bihar (only for reserved category candidates.). Issue date of Income certificate should not be more than 6 months older on the date of counselling. (v) School / College Leaving Certificate (vi) Migration Certificate 6. There will be common merit list for UG & PG Vocational courses wise. Seats will be allotted as per merit list and on the choice of the candidates on the basis of eligibility criteria for that course depending upon vacancies of the seats in a particular course at the time of counselling. 7. Reservation of seats for admission to various courses shall be in accordance with the state government norms & rules. In no case, the percentage of reservation fixed by state government will be violated. 8. Candidates will be admitted to a particular course and to a particular college, strictly on the basis of merit of Combined Entrance Test (CET) and reservation policy of the state government. 9. The university reserves the right to take any decision in all matters regarding admission. 10. Candidates may apply to more than one course but on different application form. 11. No candidate shall be admitted who has not qualified the CET and has not appeared on counselling on prescribed / notified date and time, except in certain genuine cases. 12. No such candidate shall be admitted who, in the opinion of the Hon’ble Vice – Chancellor, Purnea University, Patna, is not suited to be admitted in the best interest of the University. 13. Process of Counselling will be announced with result. 14. Fees once paid shall not be refunded. 15. Notwithstanding anything above, a student once admitted to a course in a college will not be transferred to another college, even if, for any reason, some seats in any course fall vacant on account of cancellation of admission in a particular course in that college. However, the university reserves the right to take an appropriate decision to fill up the vacant seats. General Instructions to Candidates for Examination Students are allowed to carry only following items in examination hall • Candidate may collect admit card from colleges in which they submitted the application form of CET 2018. • If photo on admit card is not clear, bring two recent passport size coloured photograph. Photo should be same as pasted on application form. • Blue or black ball point pen should only be used to darken the circle on OMR sheet. • Original photo Identity proof and a copy of same ID proof. Students are not allowed to carry only following items in examination hall. • Mobile, Pager, Bluetooth, calculator or any other electronic device are not allowed. • Only normal or simple wrist watch is allowed. Digital wrist watch or watch fitted with any electronic device or smart watch is not allowed. • Any other paper/bag is not allowed to carry in examination hall except admit card, photo ID and Pen. .
