Although we are private, nonprofit institutions of higher learning, we are united in performing a public service to the people of Wisconsin. Our motto is “WAICU: Wisconsin’s private colleges working together to advance educational opportunity.” Today there are over 57,000 students enrolled in our 20 member colleges and universities—an increase of more than 60 percent in the last two decades. In the same period, enrollment in the 26 campuses of the UW system has changed very little.
