From the Apple menu, open “System Preferences”. Select “Print & Fax”. In the “Print & Fax” screen, click the "+" to add a new printer. The “Add Printer” window appears. Right-click/control-click on the icon bar to add the option. Select "Customize Toolbar…" You will see this screen. Drag and drop the "Advanced" icon up to the icon bar. This should be how the icon bar now looks. Now select advanced, and wait for it to time out. From the “Type” option, select: Windows ( 10.5. Leopard, 10.6 Snow Leopard ) or Windows printer via spools ( 10.7 Lion ). In the URL: field, type: smb://134.29.183.183:139/openlab1 From the “Print Using” option, choose: Select Printer Software… Type: 4250 in the search box to locate HP LaserJet 4250 Select HP LaserJet 4250 and click OK Click OK to accept the default options and wait for it to install. In the Name field, change the name to OpenLab1 Be sure there are no spaces in the name. Open terminal by typing the command+space key and type terminal. Click terminal to open. Type: sudo lpadmin –p openlab1 –o auth-info-required=username,password **** Make sure sudo is typed in. This ensures that it will properly ask for your password. **** When prompted, type in the password that you use on your personal laptop’s user account. When printing, a box similar to below will appear: In the Name box, type in ihcc/ followed by your student username i.e. ihcc/aaaa#### In the Password box, type your on-campus password. *You will have to do this each time you print. .
