Santiago, Chile 2011 Director Identification and Biography Andrés Wood Director of “Machuca” (2004), one of the most popular and acclaimed films in Chilean film history. An Economics graduate from “Universidad Católica de Chile“ (1988), he then moved to New York to study filmmaking (NYU). After returning to Chile, he directed his first feature film, “Football Stories” (1997). Which was followed by the television series “El Desquuite” (1999), and by the film “Loco Fever” (2001). These productions have participated in the most important film festivals around the globe (Cannes, Venice, San Sebastián, Toronto, Sundance). He has also directed short films and dozens of commercials with Wood Producciones. His most recent work is the film "Violeta went to heaven", based on homonymous novel of Ángel Parra.
