James Huntley Grayson is Emeritus Professor of Modern Korean Studies at the University of Sheffield. He was awarded a B.A. in Anthropology from Rutgers University, New Jersey, U.S.A., in 1966, an M.A. in Anthropology from Columbia University in 1968, and a PhD in the History of Religion from Edinburgh University in 1979. He served as a Methodist missionary in Korea from 1971 to 1987, after which he returned to the U.K. as a Lecturer (later Senior Lecturer, Reader and Professor) in Korean Studies at the University of Sheffield until his retirement in 2009.
