SPRUNG Thank you for joining us for the 18th annual AKC National Obedience Invitational. We are pleased to welcome back to Orlando our competing dog and handler teams as well as the scores of volunteers and supporters who make this event possible. Special appreciation goes to our sponsor Eukanuba. Thousands of competitors have exhibited throughout the year in order to qualify for this event, but we’ve narrowed the field to the top-ranking dogs in each breed as well as the top 25 dogs overall based on Obedience Trial Champion (OTCH) points. One hundred and twenty seven teams will compete over the next two days for the honor of being named National Obedience Champion. Our competitors come from 33 states and Canada, and represent 49 different breeds as well as the All-American dog. These obedient dogs will perform a series of exercises such as heeling, scent discrimination and retrieval over jumps, judged on skill and accuracy as well as the natural movement of the handler and willingness and enjoyment of the dog. All dogs will compete both days, in eight rings with two to three exercises per ring. The AKC National Juniors Obedience Competition will also return this year for the second time. Forty-six junior handlers
