Brigadier General (Retired) Timothy R. Coffin In February of 2018 General Coffin joined the Leidos Defense & Intelligence Group for MOSSAIC Capture and Business Development. Prior to this Tim supported Knowledge Point International in a Capability Gap Assessment of the United Arab Emirates military capabilities to include their Space Capabilities. From 2014 to 2016 BG Timothy R. Coffin served as the Commanding General of White Sands Missile Range, the world’s largest military installation, responsible for developing future capacities including testing space, missile, nuclear, high energy laser systems needed to meet our nation’s future requirements. Prior to taking command of White Sands he was the Deputy Commanding General at the Joint Functional Component Command for Space (JFCC SPACE), United States Strategic Command, Vandenberg Air Force Base, California. He graduated as a Distinguished Military Graduate from Wheaton College, Wheaton Ill. and was commissioned in December 1981 as a Quartermaster Officer. Upon graduating as the Distinguished Graduate from his Officer Basic Course, he was assigned to the Army Special Operations Forces Europe. In 1985 he graduated as the Honor Graduate of the Quartermaster Officer Advanced Course and was assigned to Fort Hood, Texas, where he served as the S-3 for the Armor Support Battalion, and then Commander, 62nd Supply and Services Company. From 1989 to 1992 he served in Washington, D.C., at the Army Secretariat, then as an Intern on the Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS). In 1993 he graduated from the Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, Kan., and graduated from the School of Advanced Military Studies in 1994. From there he was assigned to the 4th Infantry Division at Fort Carson, Colo., as a division planner and then as Executive Officer for the 64th Forward Support Battalion In 1996 he was assigned to United States Space Command/North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) where he served in Cheyenne Mountain as an Intelligence Watch Commander and then in the Commander in Chief's Action Group. In 1999 Coffin was assigned to Army Space Command where he served as the G-4 and then was selected to serve as the first commander of the Army’s 1st Space Battalion. From 2001-2002 he served on the Army’s Objective Force Task Force as the Space and Aviation System Integrator. Upon completion of the Army War College he served as the Chief of the Space and Missile Defense Division on the Army Staff. He also served as the Director for Combat Developments in the Future Warfare Center, USASMDC/ ARSTRAT, In 2006 Coffin assumed command of the Army's 1st Space Brigade. In this position he was responsible for the supervision of three one-of-a-kind battalions with forces forward deployed at 14 locations in 7 countries - providing day-to-day space support to the operational Army. In 2008 Coffin assumed the duties as the J3 and J7, Joint Functional Component Command for Space, U.S. Strategic Command - responsible for coordination, planning, integrating, synchronizing and executing space operations employing all Operational DOD Space forces to provide tailored, responsive space effects in support of national objectives and Combatant Commander (CCDR) global and theater operations. In 2010 he deployed to Kabul Afghanistan in support of OEF. He was promoted to Brigadier General June 6, 2012. His military education includes the Command and General Staff College, Armed Forces Staff College, School of Advanced Military Studies (SAMS), the Army War College Advanced Strategic Arts Program, the MIT Seminar XXI program and is a graduate of the Harvard Senior Executive Fellowship. Coffin's awards and decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal with oak leaf cluster, Legion of Merit with two oak leaf clusters, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with three oak leaf clusters, the Joint Staff Identification Badge, Army Staff Badge, Master Space Badge, and U.S. and German Parachutist Badges. .
