John Scher CEO, Metropolitan Entertainment, Inc.; Music Industry Producer, Promoter & Manager A top veteran in live entertainment, John Scher developed Metropolitan Talent into multi-faceted industry leader, encompassing artist management, an independent record label (Hybrid Recordings) and a concert division. From his first efforts during college, Scher grew Metropolitan Entertainment into a modern concert promotion operation, which produced concerts throughout the Northeast and promoted/ coordinated national tours. He helped The Grateful Dead to become one of the highest-grossing live music acts in history, while setting an industry standard for touring acts that remains in place today. Throughout the years, Scher (and Metropolitan) created, produced or co-produced many critically acclaimed national tours (Whitney Housten, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Emmylou Harris, etc.), becoming the nation’s top grossing promoter and winning many prestigious awards including induction into the Touring Hall of Fame , and a 2009 Tony Award. Scher produced the first shows ever held at Giants Stadium (Beach Boys), at the Meadowlands Arena (Bruce Springsteen), and worked with a veritable Who’s Who among pop/rock artists (Sting, U2, Peter Gabriel, Frank Sinatra, etc.) at the most prominent venues throughout the Northeast. His work expanded into TV, home video and pay-per-view, pioneering fundraising concerts and also garnered success on Broadway, Off-Broadway and TV. His credits include Jelly’s Last Jam , Damn Yankees , Victor/Victoria, the Emmy- nominated Carnegie Hall Salutes The Jazz Masters , and Woodstock ‘94 , the highest-grossing, most- watched music pay-per-view special to date. In 2002, Scher joined with co-CEO Al Cafaroto to create Metropolitan Talent Inc. which promotes and guides developing and established artists. John Scher serves on the boards of The Cancer Institute of NJ and The Rex Foundation. He has two daughters and lives in NJ with his wife, Sheri. .
