It allows us to break from routines, explore new territories, go on new adventures. Let’s plan to do that together on Sundays! Too often the Psalms are not emphasized in worship. So this summer the plan is to “break from the routine, explore new territory and go on a new adventure.” You can relate! Most of the Psalms reflect the heart of one who goes through daily struggles and circumstances, and their cry is often, “What is a follower of God to do?”. Each Sunday we will explore the cries of our own hearts that far too often ask: “What’s a Christian to Do?” June 11th—What’s a Christian to do—In response to the Powerful and Persuasive? Text: Psalm 8 June 18th – What’s a Christian to do—In response to New Opportunities? Text: Psalm 100 June 25th -- What’s a Christian to do-- In Response to Danger and Attack? Text: Psalm 91:1-16 July 2nd – What’s a Christian to do-- In Response to-Changing Worldly Values? Text: Psalm 119: 153-160 July 9th—What’s a Christian to do-- In Response to-Changing Times? Text: Psalm 145:1-14 July 16th—What’s a Christian to do-- In Response to- Where is God in all of this? Text: Psalm 65:1-13 July 23rd -- Paul Nelson preaches this weekend. I will be in Wisconsin for a nephew’s wedding and family vacation. July 30th – What’s a Christian to do-- In Response to-Feeling Vulnerable? Text: Psalm 125 Join me this summer. Let’s explore the questions on our hearts. Pastor Schudde 1 Our new Principal, David Beringer, wife, Chris, and their three younger children will be arriving in Conover in early-mid June. During the VBS week, Concordia Kids will learn of the disaster relief taking place in Lumberton NC. Nanny’s Korner Day Care Center was flooded as well as many homes and businesses during Hurricane Matthew this past October. We will partner with Eric Hollar, Associate Pastor of Bethel Lutheran Church, the on- site Disaster Relief Coordinator for the Southeastern District as work continues on the Day Care Center. During VBS our 5th and 6th grade pre-teen class will be creating art work for walls, plastic storage crate seating for the preschool rooms, large chalk/magnetic boards for the toddler rooms and a whimsy painted rocker for the infant room. Brain Hefner will be leading this class. Register now for this service project using the link: https://vbsmate.com/ConcordiaKids or fill out a registration form found in the bulletin or welcome stations. Your pre-teen will not want to miss out on this service opportunity. In addition, all children during VBS will have a part in making a handprint quilt with the help of our Concordia quilters for Hurricane Matthew Disaster Relief. Eric Hollar and his disaster response team have been working for many months with the clean-up and the rebuilding of the Nanny’s Korner Day Care Center and hopefully move in day will happen this summer. We are so excited to be helping our neighbors. Bernice Cromorite, owner of 4 the Center shares that, “while the workers were doing the physical work, they were also praying with me and giving me hope!” The Children’s Ministry of Concordia can be part of this hope!
