
MIAMI DOLPHINS AT CHICAGO BEARS SOLDIER FIELD AUG. 14, 2021 | 1 PM ET POSTGAME NOTES DEFENSE BEGINS PRESEASON WITH FIVE STRAIGHT THREE- AND- OUTS • The Dolphins defense limited Chicago to just 79 yards on 21 plays (3.8 avg.) in the first half as Miami took a 13-3 lead into the locker room. • Miami forced five straight three-and-outs from the Bears offense to begin the game. • The Dolphins had a 21:08 to 8:52 edge in time of possession in the first half. AHMED SCORES MIAMI’ S FIRST TOUCHDOWN • RB Salvon Ahmed earned Miami’s first touchdown of the 2021 preseason through the air. He caught a 23-yard pass from QB Jacoby Brissett to give Miami a 13-0 lead in the second quarter. • Ahmed made his preseason debut after entering the NFL as an undrafted college free agent in 2020. • He caught 11 passes for 61 yards (5.5 avg.) as a rookie last year. TAGOVAILOA E FFICIENT IN FIRST QUARTER • QB Tua Tagovailoa had an efficient first quarter, completing seven passes in a row to finish the frame. For the quarter, he completed 7-of-9 passes (77.8 pct.) for 96 yards. • One of Tagovailoa’s completions was a 50-yard strike to TE Mike Gesicki. It was Miami’s longest preseason completion since a 65-yard touchdown pass from QB David Fales to WR Jakeem Grant on Aug. 31, 2017 at Minnesota. • The 50-yard completion helped set up a 21-yard field goal from K Jason Sanders to give Miami a 3-0 lead.
