Introduction The ASA Water Polo Coach Development Programme 2011-12 is the first step into the implementation of a Nationwide discharge of unity in thoughts of the delivery of training to England/GB Water Polo Players at all stages of the LTAD Model. Continuing on the work Spencer Moore (Head of Workforce Development), Csaba Rull, Nick Hume (NT Coaches and technical programme writers) and Norman Leighton (Talent Development Officer) have done for England/GB Water Polo development so far, Coachcoaches&training has been asked by Nick Sellwood (Head of Talent Development) to fulfil the next step; Pipe-line all segments of the Junior Water Polo Programmes (National Team to RTC’s to Clubs). The contents of the course will be focussed the LTAD approach, with the main focus on Effective Coaching Strategies, basic technique (skill!) and basic tactical development; as these are the foundation for athlete development and thus team success. During the pre-interviews and first 2 weekends of co-operation with all National Team and RTC Coaches, I discovered the Eng/GB Water Polo Ambition: . “It is ASA’s ambition to create the world’s best Player Pathway for Water Polo Players”. (David Sparkes 2009) To be able to reach this ambition Coachcoaches&training has investigated the starting environment in order to present the Objective for the project: After 6 weekends of Coach the coach activities at least 80% of the NT and RTC coaches should be able to have unification in: - knowledge (Effective Coaching Strategies); - Basic Techniques and Tactics; - The training contents role of the coach. I would like to thank you for your commitment to our sport and for your attendance at this course. I am very excited about what this will mean for our sport in general as well as for you as a coach in specific.
