A century later it is still a family run nursery with the same traditional values and emphasis on personal service. At A. E. Roberts we take pride in growing a wide range of quality fruit trees, soft fruit and ornamentals. We supply the wholesale market and despatch for several mail- order companies. Today we are based at our Woodlea Nursery site just outside Southampton in the South Down National Park. The company is owned and run by John, David and Sabrina Gwynn. The two brothers, David and John, took on the company after their father Peter Gwynn, the nursey manager bought the company from Mr Roberts. At our 3-acre Woodlea nursery site, we grow our container grown soft fruit and trees, while our bare root one-two year old trees are grown on our combined A-acre fields. Our trees are mainly grown from rootstocks and the trees variety is either budded or grafted on to the rootstocks. We grow over 100 different varieties of fruit tree and over 80 different types of ornamental trees and produce over A,000 trees annually for our nationwide customers. We also work with other British and European Growers to stock and supply a considerable range of plants. We aim to carry good stock of saleable material all year round, particularly in the spring and welcome enquiries for items not listed in this catalogue. We offer bare-root or root-wrapped plants from November to April, as well as containerised plants all year round. We have a comprehensive stock of picture labels for our plants, and full descriptive printed labels for almost everything else. We are able to deliver anywhere in the UK, and for orders of a reasonable size this will be free of charge in almost all cases. We are always happy to welcome prospective customers around the nursery but please let us know beforehand or feel free to call or email us with any enquires. Pots Over the last couple of years, we have invested and built larger container beds to hold our potted range of trees, this has allowed us to stock most of our tree range throughout the whole year. We grow our 9 litre and A litre trees in polythene pots, which both bring down the cost to the end consumer but are also easier to recycle and are made from far less plastic compared to conventional ridged pots. The trees will also benefit in poly pots over ridged pots, as it prevents the trees roots from spiralling, producing stronger root systems. Deliveries We are able to offer a range of delivery options to suit your needs. We can supply the plants on a pallet and where the quantity is significant, we can use our bespoke stillages to transport your order. We use a pallet network and are able to get your order to you next day, once its picked and packed to go. We also offer a mail order fulfilment service for our plants and can pack your customers orders into bespoke designed boxes to safely transport the plants to your customers doorstep. 3 Products Bare Root Soft Fruit Bare Root 1 year Maiden Bare Root 2 year Bush Soft Fruit Plug P9 Soft Fruit 2L Soft Fruit 3L Soft Fruit 5L Mini Standard Soft fruit Patio Dwarf Tree 3L Tree 9L Tree AL Tree Product List Key: *Product table info: A= Available for 2019-20 • -All prices are in Pound Sterling BR = Bare root plant from the fields. • -Not all products are CG = Container grown plant established in pot. 4 available all year round and FP = Freshly potted plant not
