We are now in the latter months of the year and I am sure that when I was a ‘kid’ the years did not go as quickly as they do now. I don’t seem to be able to do all of my jobs on time now. As most are aware I went on a 4 week holiday to Ireland in May/June. I was solo, hired a car and covered 2,500kms around the whole coast and inland as well. Had a really wonderful time and came home replenished. It is encouraging for me to have committee person Kay Peel now elevated to Vice President. This position has been a casual vacancy for 2 ½ years. Kay filled in for me at the June show and from what I have been told did a fine job. At the June show there was an issue between the line dancers and the rock & roll dancers. The matter was raised at the committee meeting and as a result we are asking the line dancers to dance as one body either at the front or the back. The serious rock & rollers are preferred in the middle of the floor which will leave an uninterrupted passage for ordinary dancers around the perimeter. This will be monitored and hopefully compatibility will ensue. Rita Orlando, member and volunteer in the catering department, has recently had major surgery. There is ongoing medical treatment, but Rita is on the mend and we look forward to her return. Barbara O’Daniel has had a week long stay in hospital but is now on the move again. The June event featured the Sandra Humphries band. From all reports their performance was great. The July event featured Bernie and the Bandits with guest artist Chooka Williams and an impromptu walk up by ‘Tod & Jones’. All together made a ripper day of entertainment. Many voices of praise. I am looking forward to the August show to see Guest artist, Dave Prior who is a fine singer of Merle The Adelaide Country Music Club Inc., meets at ‘COUNTRY CALL’ IS THE NEWSLETTER OF the SLOVENIAN CLUB ADELAIDE THE ADELAIDE COUNTRY MUSIC CLUB 11 LaSalle St, Dudley Park (off Pym St.) INC. Then I had a midlife crisis, and realised because of the aforementioned career, I could not afford a fast sports car, or even a slow one, or a slow woman, or a slow yacht but, more importantly, I certainly didn’t want to spend any more time working for other people.
