ANATOMY OF Female Reproductive System : Female reproductive system include : 1.ovaries 2.uterian tubes (Fallopian tube ) 3. Uterus . 4.vagina . These are internal reproductive organs lie in the pelvis , between urinary bladder and rectum , uterus and vagina in midline , and the ovaries on each sides of uterus . 5.The external genital organs . 6.The mammary gland. A group of ligaments hold the internal reproductive organs in place, broad ligament is the most conspicuous one , is an extension of the peritoneum . 1. Ovaries : small organs , 2-3.5 cm long , 1.0-1.5 cm wide . Mesovarium is a peritoneal fold , attaches each ovary to the broad ligment , suspensory ligament extend from mesovarium to the body wall .Ovarian ligament attach the ovary to the superior margin of the uterus . The ovarian arteries , veins and nerves transverse the suspensory ligament and enter the ovary through the mesovarium .Tunica albnginea is a fibrous capsule surround the ovaries . 2. Fallopian tubes(uterian tubes): each tube associated with each ovary and extend from the area of ovary to the uterus , each tube located a long a superior margin of broad ligament , which called mesosalpinx , each tube open into the peritoneal cavity to receive oocyte from the ovary .Infundibulum , the part of F. tube near the ovary and long thin processes called fimbriae surround the opening of the infundibulum . Nearest part to the infundibulum is the ampula , is the widest and longest 7.5-8.0 cm of total 10.0 cm length of tube , fertilization occur in the ampula . Isthmus , is the part of the tube near the uterus , is much narrow with thicker wall than ampula .Uterian part (intramural part) of the tube passes through the uterian wall and ends in small uterian opening . 3. Uterus : 7.5 cm long , 5.0 cm wide , it consist of 3 parts : fundus , body (between fundus and cervix ) , cervix , isthmus (between 1 body and cervix ). The uterus supported by the broad ligament , which extend from the lateral margin of the uterus to the wall of the plevison each sides .The round ligament , extend from the uterus through the inguinal canal to the labia majoria of the external genitalia , and uterosacral ligament attach to the lateral wall of the uterus to the sacrum . Skeletal muscle of the pelvis floor support the uterus inferiorly . 4. Vagina : is the female organ of copulation and allow menstrual flow and child birth , 10 cm long , extend from the uterus to the outside of the body . 2 3 4 5 .
