TimeGate 2015 WELCOME TO TIMEGATE 2015 We’re thrilled you’ve joined us for our 10th YEAR OF TIMEGATE in our new hotel, the Marriott Century Center!! The past decade has brought lots of exciting developments in the worlds of Doctor Who and sci-fi/fantasy in general. We’ve got lots to celebrate… not least the fact that it’s also 10 years since Who returned to TV screens in a big way and became more popular than ever! To commemorate this, we’ve put together a thrilling assortment of guests and events bridging classic and new Doctor Who… not to mention the latest in other fantastical movies, TV, com- ics, and books. We have two new stations for your assistance — Information Services and the TimeGate Store. If you are new to TimeGate, join our First-Timers panel and tour on Friday at 7:00 p.m. Buy your Charity Cabaret tickets, TimeGate shirts, and VIP guest autograph/photograph tickets at the new TimeGate store! Also, be sure to explore the wonders of our bigger dealers room! PLEASE support our Charity Cabaret on Saturday night. There is a $5.00 additional admission. It is well worth the small additional expense for the extra performances by our guests, who are doing this for the charity. 100% of the proceeds will go to support the Nepal Youth Foundation. Please buy your ticket at the TimeGate store before the event. Let us transport you into the worlds of Doctor Who (among many others), as we ’phase’ you away to a weekend of fun-filled imagination! Many thanks to our Immortals, our sponsors, the great staff of the Marriott Century Center, and to our fantastic Senior Directors, Directors and staff, who make TimeGate such a huge success! Special thanks to Robert Lloyd for creating this program book, and to Tony Cade and Challenges Games and Comics for giving us space for making badges! Alan Siler Susan Rey IN MEMORY GEORGE COCKRELL TimeGate has been going for ten years now, and George was there for nearly all of it, even though he lived in Illinois. He was a great friend to our convention, especially in our formative stages, never stingy with his time, money, or advice. He cared very much about TimeGate and was willing to do whatever he could to help us grow and establish ourselves as a destination convention. The fact that we're still growing and, in our tenth year, expecting our biggest audience ever, is thanks in no small part to his contributions over the years. He was never officially on our staff, but he was always part of our inner circle and was involved in many of the crucial decisions that shaped us early on. I can't recount the number of late nights that he and I would spend emailing or chatting online about some aspect of TimeGate. I sought his ad- vice and his input on a very regular basis. He was a sounding board, a confi- dant, an idea man, and a cheerleader. He loved attending the convention too, and was a regular panelist for us, especially in the Doctor Who panels. One of the things that he was known for, and one of the things that made me laugh more than anything else, was his impeccable impersonation of the 1980s Cyberleader as played by David Banks. His exclamations of “Excellent!” or his recitation of any line of Cyberleader dialogue always made me smile. But more than any of that, he was a personal friend. He was one of the kindest, most caring, most concerned people that you’d ever encounter. As much as he supported TimeGate, he supported the people in his life, and always loved meeting new friends. Especially kids. He loved kids. He was a very special guy. TimeGate will never quite be whole without him. He was an integral part of the convention and in the lives of many of us who ran it. We wish he were still here to enjoy the ride with us. I will miss my friend very much, es- pecially this weekend. — Alan Please join us in a special tribute to George and Dave on Friday night at 10:00 p.m. In Dunwoody 2. 4 TimeGate 2015 IN MEMORY DAVE SLAUGHTER Dave Slaughter was also at almost every TimeGate for the entire 10 years and lived all over the country. He came no matter where he lived to support me and Alan. He worked in Guest Services as staff and as Director, because he really loved assisting the guests. He made special bonds with many, especially Diana Botsford, Chad Colvin, Tony Amendola, David Nykl, and David Read. He was like me, a StarGate fan though and through. Yes, he loved Doctor Who too, but no sci-fi franchise had his heart like StarGate (and Star Trek). Dave and I began the StarGate Atlanta fan club twelve years ago, along with Aaron Dunne, Bruce Sheffer, Mary (Libby) Ellis, Amy Joyce, Lindsay Steggman, Tanya Spanks (RIP)., and Tony Cade. We met every month in Tony’s game and comic store, The Dragon’s Horde (now Challenges Games and Comics). Early on, we hosted parties in the American Sci-Fi track at Dragon*Con, and one year, spent days making a huge Gate and pyramids out of cardboard for the track. Anyone he met was a friend, with his calm and easy-going nature. Dave was one of my closest friends, no matter how far away he lived. He was my confidante, sounding board, stress release, and advisor for TimeGate. His hotel advise was invaluable, as his career was as a hotel general manager. Dave was also very active in the Big Brothers program everywhere he lived, and is missed by many Little Brothers, family members, and friends. My world is not the same without him, so if you see me in tears this weekend, it is because I miss him and George so much. — Susan Please join us in a special tribute to George and Dave on Friday night at 10:00 p.m. In Dunwoody 2.
