This year will be a very new way of schooling and we are hopeful and optimistic that it will be a successful one. We are excited to continue building on all that is good about our school and community. We recognize that many are feeling anxious and uncertain about returning to school. Please know that the health and safety of our school community remains our key priority. We are working closely with VSB District and school-based staff to ensure the full implementation of the VSB COVID-19 Safety Plan. This plan was developed under the BC Government COVID-19 K-12 Education Plan-Stage 2 mandate. As a school learning community, we will continue exemplifying our core values of personal responsibility and social responsibility and Indigenous cultural enhancement. Specifically, we will continue to explore student success-what is it and what does it look like for our individual learners. This year, we will have an additional focus on equity and access to student success for our diverse learners. In continuing to observe concerning global events which raise our collective awareness of discrimination and inequity, we would like to assure you that we are here to listen, learn, and support. We are committed to ensuring all staff and students feel safe, valued, and included. We will continue to strive to embrace and celebrate our diversity. Parents new to Kitsilano Secondary are encouraged to attend and join our school Parent Advisory Committee (PAC). As part of our Kitsilano tradition, we hope to continue with the high level of parent involvement in PAC as well as with all the other committees. Parent contributions are valued and appreciated by all staff and students. Students new to Kitsilano Secondary are encouraged to join extra-curricular clubs, teams, and councils to enhance their Kitsilano experience. Though the way these groups meet this year may look different, there is great value in making connections with peers through shared interests. We have a strong tradition of student engagement and involvement and are proud of how well-rounded and successful our students have been and continue to be.
