Indian Superhero ‘Shaktimaan’ opens Institute of Acting for Film & Television in Chandigarh By : INVC Team Published On : 11 Oct, 2013 06:00 PM IST Kulbir Kalsi, INVC, Chandigarh, A mere mention of the mythological character like ‘Bheeshma Pitamaha’, or fictional characters like ‘Shaktimaan’ and ‘Pandit Gangadhar Vidyadhar Mayadhar Omkarnath Shastri’ evokes vivid images of Mukesh Khanna, who portrayed these characters to perfection. Not only has this thespian, known for his haunting baritone, proved his mettle on the small screen but also on the 70 mm silver screen with equal felicity and earned optimum blah blah for the character he lived with panache. Touted to be the original Indian superhero of the Indian television, Mukesh ruled over his young fans’ hearts for years. Now, on a whole new journey, the erstwhile superhero is keen on providing a suitable platform to those who are raring to go but for the absence of it. The new venture on his top agenda is ‘Shaktimaan Institute of Acting for Film & Television’ (SIAFT), which brought Mukesh to Chandigarh Press Club for official launch of his project here today. Briefing the media about the project, Mukesh Khanna said “Hero, especially an action hero, is not born with the talent and acumen that he picks up with time through hard work, dedication, and indomitable spirit to make it to the skies. The talent and nuances of acting is a discovery that a brood of intrepid few could access and achieve what they aspire for.” Acting portals impart significant role in carving out a career for the aspiring and upcoming youngsters, who aim high in their lives. These schools of learning help a fledgling artistes figure out a roadmap to glory for them. Several acting schools in Mumbai play host to strugglers who come calling from distant corners of the country. With a view to adding the much desired impetus to these strugglers, Mukesh has come up with an ambitious plan to open theme acting schools across the country. “By bringing acting schools at the doorstep level, the aspirants would find it convenient in terms of environs to learn the subtle acting skills. He did a lot of spade work by way of interacting with producers, directors or casting directors before coming out with the dream project.” Mukesh further added that the underlying idea behind opening branches of SIAFT all over India was to offer a platform to aspirants where they might learn the craft of acting in an environment, closer home. ‘Shaktimaan’, a household name for young fans, had taken the small screen in a big way. This brood of young fans trusts him and treats him as their well- wisher. Keeping their unflinching faith intact, he is mulling over providing maximum assistance to the young aspirants, to repay their immortal love and consistent patronage. Bheeshma International, a proprietary portal that Mukesh has floated with this recurring idea in mind, provides guidance to struggling actors so as to help translate their dreams. “I have also called upon like-minded people from various cities to join me and create suitable teaching platforms in their cities.” Mukesh makes a point. The noted thespian has partnered with SMC BIZZ, 143-144, Madhya Marg, Sector 8, Chandigarh, for SIAFT in Chandigarh. The SMC BIZZ is being headed by Mr Sunil Bansal, a prominent figure in the entertainment industry and the Founder Director of ‘Face of the Year Awards’ since year 2000. He has already trained more than 2000 aspirants in the past 15 years and today many of them have carved a niche for themselves in the film as well as entertainment industry.
