How to apply for Associate Fellow status with the Higher Education Academy (HEA) 1. Become a Sheffield Teaching Assistant (see attached leaflet) 2. Complete your Account of Professional Practice (APP) www.heacademy.ac.uk/resources/detail/recognition/AssociateFellowAPPTemplate 3. Complete teaching observations (template teaching observation forms and research supervision teaching observation forms can be downloaded from the CILT website, www.shef.ac.uk/lets/cpd/peer_obs/observations) You need to show a variety of teaching methods so you need 2 different types of teaching observed (i.e. you cant use 2 observations of research supervision teaching) 4. Use text from the observation forms to create 2 supporting statements from referees 5. Obtain institutional approval For the institutional endorsement of your applications at our University, you should contact your Faculty Director of Learning and Teaching (Mrs Margaret Freeman, 0114 222 2428, [email protected]) in the first instance to ask about institutional letter of endorsement (using the above documents). 6. Fill out the online application form www.heacademy.ac.uk/associate-fellow/apply/ 7. Pay a fee (as we are institutional members of the HEA, you pay a reduced fee (£100) and this is a one-off payment, not an annual subscription).
