October 2013 filmrichmond|NEWSLETTER Hey, it’s us again, coming to you from a still rather sunny Richmond upon Thames. On the one hand we quite like this unseasonably warm weather but as the nights draw in - shouldn’t it be getting chilly? We just want to get our woolies out! Although we do appreciate that all of you on location at 6am will be hoping it stays warm for a little while longer. Sarah Hillman Sue Lewis 020 8487 5157 020 8487 5157 07764 614774 07882 705073 www.richmond.gov.uk/filmrichmond So, Barnes is our focus this time. The village has so much to offer; there’s the river Thames of course, with a good long stretch of it completely unspoilt by modern buildings; a picturesque pond surrounded by elegant Edwardian and Georgian properties; a Common with a variety of landscapes (clean cut grassed areas, wild grass and woodland and hidden pathways); the pretty town centre with a good selection of independent stores; Barn Elms Sports Centre, recently redeveloped with football and rugby pitches, a running track (waiting for redevelopment so currently looking very ‘period’) and newly built changing rooms. Barnes has a classic 1930s style library completely modernised inside; Old Barnes Cemetery, spookily overgrown, very atmospheric and surrounded by woodland; Barnes Station (on a leafy lane so could look like anywhere in the countryside) and of course, private properties in abundance (some of which are registered with us). Oh and unit parking isn’t a problem either with Barn Elms and the London Wetland Centre a hop, skip and a jump from wherever you may be.
