FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE AUGUST 11, 2014 A PLAQUE DEDICATION FOR THE LATE HALL OF FAME BOWLER AND BUSINESSMAN DICK WEBER IS SET FOR TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 2 ND AT 801 RUE ST. FRANCOIS Mayor Thomas P. Schneider is pleased to announce that the City along with Florissant Old Town Partners will be hosting a plaque dedication and will be unveiling a plaque in honor of the late Hall of Fame bowler and businessman Dick Weber. This will be the 19th Walk Through History plaque that will be dedicated to someone that has made a valuable contribution to the City of Florissant. The ceremony will be held on Tuesday, September 2 nd at 6:30 p.m. at 801 rue St. Francois. The Weber family will be in attendance including Hall of Fame Pro Bowler Pete Weber. Dick Weber moved to Florissant in 1955 and opened Dick Weber Lanes in 1971. He was the founding member and longtime star of the professional bowlers association (PBA) from the 1950s to the 1990s. His legendary half-century career included 26 regular and six senior PBA tour titles and was one of sport’s most popular figures. Dick promoted bowling around the world and was a frequent competitor on the ABC broadcasts of Professional Bowlers Association events. Along with his son Pete Weber, he is a member of the United States Bowling Congress Hall of Fame and PBA Hall of Fame. Dick is in the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame and is on the St. Louis Walk of Fame.
