Type Basics History of Joanna Nova The Eric Gill Series is a collection of 77 fonts in three families: •Gill Sans Nova •Joanna Nova •Joanna Sans Nova All the typefaces are derived from the original work of the influential British artist Eric Gill, acclaimed in his lifetime as a type designer and other proffesions. Joanna is a serif typeface designed by Eric Gill in the period 1930-31, and named the fontype after one of her daughters. Gill chose Joanna for setting a book by Gill on his thoughts on typography, typesetting, and page design.
