Q1 HARPER GREEN AREA FORUM MEETING, 7th May 2009 Present – 30 members of the public attended the meeting. INTRODUCTION Councillor Williamson opened the meeting by welcoming everyone to the event then introducing himself, Fellow Councillors from the Harper Green ward and the Bolton Council officers and partners. 2. MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING The minutes of the previous meeting held on 18th February 2009 were submitted and signed as a correct record. 3. POLICING AND ANTI-SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR UPDATE Inspector Stuart Wrudd gave a presentation on the current policing and anti social behaviour issues in the south area policing team. He advised attendees at the Area Forum that they had the largest policing team in the Bolton Borough. He went on to say that the south area was made up of four areas: Great Lever Harper Green Highfield Minerva Road Inspector Wrudd then informed residents of the crime figures between January 2009 and April 2009 and compared them with the same period for 2008, the following crimes were covered: Burglary Robbery Vehicle Crime Anti Social Behaviour Criminal Damage Page 2 of 4 Q3 Inspector Wrudd then advised residents that a third of all vehicle crime was due to items of value being left on show. He also informed residents of the main crime issues in three of the four areas of the south Policing team: Great Lever Anti-Social behaviour Drug Dealing Highfield Anti-Social behaviour Burglary Minerva Road Robberies Vehicle Crime Inspector Wrudd concluded his presentation by informing residents of the introduction of the new national policing pledge which all forces were implementing. Following the presentation a number of comments and questions were put forward in relation to: 1. Damaged cars on Higher Swan Lane. 2. Response to drug dealing in Sunnyside Park 3. Trying to contact PCSO’s was difficult. Resolved – That the report be noted Page 3 of 4 Q4 4. QUESTION AND ANSWER SESSION 1. When would Farnworth bus station toilets be open following repairs? 2. Could transport be a possible agenda item at a future meeting? 3. What could be done about the traffic problems on Lever Edge Lane near the Heyward Academy School? Resolved – That the questions be noted and the questions that have not been answered at the meeting be directed to the appropriate Council Department or external agency. 5. CHAIR’S CLOSING REMARKS Councillor Williamson thanked everyone for their attendance and contribution to the meeting and informed residents that the next meeting was arranged for Monday 13th July 2009, Venue to be confirmed.
