It is a facility for the West Midlands, to train doctors, dentist, nurses, allied health professionals and multidisciplinary teams across the region. The use of simulation techniques in conjunction with training in human factors has been demonstrated to result in error reduction and improved quality of patient care and safety. The lessons learned in human factors and simulation training from high risk industries such as aviation, nuclear power and the military have been translated into the health care sector. Learning through simulation has received approval from professional and regulatory organisations, such as the Royal College of Surgeons and the Nursing and Midwifery Council. Deaneries in the UK are starting to introduce simulation training for junior doctors, and some medical and surgical specialties are already using simulation as part of their training. To date the Hollier Centre has trained over 2000 medical students, doctors and nurses. The centre has a faculty of over 20 trained staff providing training for health care workers in a variety of settings. Some of the programmes include: . End of life . Training for adult and paediatric emergencies . Military team training . Theatre team training . Instructor training . Obstetric and paediatric training . Critical incident review .
