LINEAGE BOOK OF THE NATIONAL SOCIETY OF DAUGHTERS OF FOUNDERS AND PATRIOTS OF AMERICA VOLUME XV 1924 Copyright, 1924 by National Society of Daughters of Founders and Patriots of America. A charter was granted in the District of Columbia, June 7, 1898, to Eugenia Washington, Helen M. Boynton and Pella H. Mason, "who have associated themselves together and formed a perpetual society to be known as The National Society of Daughters of Founders and Patriots of America"; the objects specified being "To preserve the history of Colonial and Revo­ lutionary times, to inculcate patriotism in the present generation, and in times of war to obtain and forward supplies for field hospitals." The first General Court convened May 13, 1899, the day being selected in order to commemorate the landing at Jamestown. The Executive Committee decided in 1909 to print each year as fast as practicable, the lineage of members of the Society. Thomas Hastings, born in England, left Ipswich, England, April 10,1634, and settled in Watertown, Mass., where he was made Freeman May 6, 1635. He was Selectman from 1638 to 1643 and from 1650 to 1671; Town Clerk, 1672, 77 and 80, and Representative in 1673. He also held the office of Deacon for many years. Eliphalet Hastings (1734-1824) served as Lieutenant in Middlesex County, being commissioned June 5, 1778. HELEN FELT (MRS. THOMAS W. DANIEL). 1702 Born in Portland, Maine. Descendant of George Felt of Salem, Charlestown, and Yarmouth, Mass., through the Revolutionary patriot Peter Felt of Lynn, Mass., as follows: 2. Samuel Stephens Felt (Oct. 12, 1832-Nov. 16, 1901) m. George Felt, born in England, came with Endicott in 1628 and went to Salem. On June 24, 1629, he, with one hundred men, left Salem and laid the foundation of Charlestown. On Feb. 10,1634, a board of Selectmen was created, and he was one of the signers. In 1640 he obtained land and became one of the pioneer settlers of Yarmouth. Peter Felt (1745-1817) enlisted as a private in the Conti­ nental Army and served one year from Jan. 7, 1776. He was in the Saratoga campaign. MARY RICKER (MRS. John Stockbridge (1608-Oct. 13, 1657) m. 1st before 1634, Ann (1614-before 1643). John Stockbridge, born in England, was a wheelwright and took the Oath of Fidelity at Scituate in 1646. In 1660 he built the Stockbridge mansion, one of the two oldest houses in New England. This was used as a garrison during King Philip's War. John Stockbridge (1757-1820) enlisted as a private from Sutton, Mass., and served until the close of the war, being given the honorary title of Captain for his bravery. PHILOMENE LORETTA PIKE (MRS.
