Solo & Ensemble Recommended Repertoire List Junior Division Solos (Grades 8-9 ) Senior Division Solos (Grades 10-12) Ensembles General Instructions Important Information about MSU Solo and Ensemble 2021 Wind, String, and Percussion Repertoire List The MSU Solo and Ensemble 2021 Winds, Strings, and Percussion Repertoire List below contains solos and ensembles recommended by our faculty for performance at the virtual festival. Acceptable solos and ensembles can also be found on the state lists whose links are provided below. The MSU list has links to many piano accompaniments that can be used for practice and in your performance video, which is highly encouraged. If you do not have access to a pianist or recorded accompaniment, you may play without accompaniment. Links to online music sources are also included. Be aware that April 23rd, 2021, is the application and video deadline. Junior Division refers to literature generally play by younger performers and Senior Division to high school and community college students. You are responsible for sending a link to a score for the adjudicators to view. Many of the online accompaniments have scores built in. Finally, there are no lists for guitarists, who may select their own repertoire as long as you provide a score. If you have any questions about repertoire, please call Dr. Kirkland at 662-325-9374. Piano Repertoire Solo and Duets can be from any historic period and composers’ nationality. For more information, please follow the MTNA/MMTA repertoire requirements or Federation of Music Clubs. If you have questions regarding piano repertoire, contact Dr. Roseangela Sebba. Collaborative Piano Division Instructions Pianists who wish to enter the festival to receive feedback on their skills as collaborative pianists may play the piano part to one or two movements of the J.S. Bach Sonata for Flute and Keyboard BWV 1031, available from www.IMSLP.org; we will supply the soloist.
