The President took the Chair and read the prayers. Legislative Assembly RICHARD TORBAY 10 September 2009 Speaker 4 DISTINGUISHED VISITORS The President invited attention to the presence in his galleries of former President, the Honourable Max Willis, former Leader of the Opposition, the Honourable John Hannaford, and former members, the Honourable Patricia Forsythe and the Honourable John Ryan. 5 DEATH OF FORMER PRESIDENT—THE HONOURABLE VIRGINIA ANNE CHADWICK AO The President reported to the House the death, on 18 September 2009, of the Honourable Virginia Anne Chadwick AO, aged 64 years, a former President and a member of the House from 1978 to 1999. Members and officers of the House stood as a mark of respect. 6 CONDOLENCE MOTION—THE HONOURABLE VIRGINIA ANNE CHADWICK AO Mr Kelly moved without notice: 1375 Legislative Council Minutes No. 116—Tuesday 22 September 2009 1. That this House expresses and places on record its deep sense of the loss sustained to the State by the death on 18 September 2009 of the Honourable Virginia Chadwick AO a member of this House from 1978 to 1999, a former President of the House and Minister of the Crown. 2. That this resolution be communicated by the President to the family. Debate ensued. With concurrence, debate continued beyond the time appointed for Questions. Members having addressed the House in eulogy of the deceased— Question put and passed unanimously—Members and officers of the House standing. 7 MINISTERIAL STATEMENT—CHANGES IN ADMINISTRATION Mr Hatzistergos informed the House that, on 14 September 2009, Her Excellency the Governor accepted the resignations of the following Ministers: The Honourable Carmel Mary Tebbutt MP as Minister for Climate Change and the Environment, and Minister for Commerce, The Honourable John Hatzistergos MLC as Minister for Health, and Minister for the Central Coast, The Honourable Verity Helen Firth MP as Minister for Women, The Honourable Ian Michael Macdonald MLC as Minister for Energy, The Honourable Anthony Bernard Kelly MLC as Minister for Police, and Minister for Rural Affairs, The Honourable Barbara Mazzel Perry MP as Minister Assisting the Minister for Health (Mental Health), The Honourable Michael John Daley MP as Minister for Roads, and The Honourable Jodi Leyanne McKay MP as Minister Assisting the Minister for Health (Cancer).
