State Scientist Awards Programme In order to encourage the scientific community of the state, the Government of Karnataka has instituted several awards to the Department of Information Technology, scientists and engineers in the state. These awards are given Biotechnology and Science & Technology, every year since 1996. The Government has constituted a selection committee involving eminent scientists of the state for Government of Karnataka selection of candidates for these awards. Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology (KSCST) has been entrusted with the operationalisation for the awards. Nominations Invited for Sir M. Visvesvaraya Award for Senior Scientists Sir M. Visvesvaraya Senior Scientist Award Sir M. Visvesvaraya awards are given to two senior scientists who have put in lifetime of work and made significant contributions for Sir C. V. Raman Award the development of science or technology in the state. for Young Scientists The selection committee considers eminent scientists / engineers Prof. Satish Dhawan Award who have contributed for the development of Science or Technology over the last few decades in Karnataka. Sir M. for Young Engineers Visvesvaraya awards are given to senior persons who have put in a lifetime of scientific work with significant contributions to Science Dr. Kalpana Chawla Award or Technology. This award carries a cash award of Rs.50,000/- (Rupees fifty thousand only) a memento and a citation. for Young Women Scientists and Eligibility Dr. Raja Ramanna Award Candidates should have completed 50 years of age as on for Scientist / Engineer 28.2.2004 and 28.2.2005 for the year 2004 and 2005 awards respectively. for the years 2004 and 2005 Must have served as head of a Research Organisation or Department for a minimum five years. Must have done significant original contribution in their chosen field of research. Agricultural Science and Animal Husbandry Candidates should have been born in Karnataka or domiciled Medical Sciences for at least twenty years in Karnataka. Prof. Satish Dhawan Young Engineers Award Candidate should have published at least five research papers in National/International journals.
