Close to 40 participants gathered (artists and other experts of the field) at the L’Anse-au-Griffon Cultural Center. The event, the sixth edition, was held on November 2. Seminars and conferences were on the program concerning different themes such as cre- ativity, development, communication and citizen implication. “Over the years we realize the relevance of these events. We also realize that we don’t know each other that well. Moreover, new players are added. So the forum is a unique opportunity to get to know each other better and build bridges. We’re happy with Cornélius-Brotherton Foundation rewards the turn out,” confirms Ms. Pineault. young Gaspesians and Magdalen Islanders who decided to pursue their studies in their region Cornelius Brotherton Foundation, Cégep de la Gaspésie et des Îles GASPÉ: – The Cégep de la Gaspésie et des Îles Foundation is carrying on its mission by attribut- ing its entrance bursaries for a ninth consecutive year. In all, $11,000 – 22 bursaries – were awarded to secondary school graduates newly admitted to their first year at one of the four Cégep de la Gaspésie et des Îles campuses. Fate smiled on 19 students from throughout the territory whose names were drawn as recipients of $500 welcome bursaries. Even though the fund attribution program provides one bursary for each high school or adult education centre from its territory, some schools or centres are not present on the recipients list due to a lack of applicants. One $500 French Immersion bursary was attributed to Louis Gabriel Sutton whereas the Eng- lish Immersion bursary was handed out to Juliette Keith. Charlie Rioux, a student at the Carleton Campus, was rewarded for her leadership with a $500 scholarship for her remarkable involvement in her community. Entrance bursary program – Welcome: These bursaries are exclusively for graduates from each of the secondary schools or Adult Education Centres located on the Gaspésie—Îles-de-la-Madeleine administrative region or from ESSB territory who choose to enrol in a training program at one of the four campuses of the Cégep de la Gaspésie et des Îles. One bursary is awarded following a ran- dom draw for eligible students in each of the high schools or Adult Ed. Centre. These $500 bursaries encourage young people to remain in the region. Entrance bursary program – Immersion: This bursary is for students who undertake their col- lege studies in total or partial immersion at the Cégep de la Gaspésie et des Îles.
