The Sappi Alfeld Mill Competence Center of Speciality Papers and Boards Our Alfeld mill is located to the south of Hanover and its origins date back to 1706. It covers over 384.000 m2 and 800 employees. Total mill capacity: 270,000 tons a year of paper and board and 120,000 tons a year of sulphite pulp. In recent years Alfeld Mill has been the focus of an intensive invest- ment program to enable us to use 100% of our capacity for the production of speciality paper and board. Importantly, we have now established in Alfeld mill a Competence Centre for Speciality Papers and Boards. Our product range is reinforced by consistent high quality thanks to our holistic knowledge of paper production and the constant development of individual recipes. Our five papermaking machines with widths from 3.3 to 4.8 meters very efficiently produce coated and uncoated speciality papers and SBB car- tonboards. The grammage ranges from 18 g/m2 up to 400 g/m2.
