69th POWELL RIVER FESTIVAL OF THE PERFORMING ARTS 2013 PIANO Catherine Bundt – Piano Catherine Anne Bundt is a graduate of the UBC Piano Performance program where she studied with Jane Coop and participated in master classes with Fanny Waterman, Menahem Pressler, Elly Ameling and Rudolf Jansen. She was a full scholarship student at the Banff International Centre for the Performing Arts where she studied with Marek Jablonski and later completed two years of further studies with Kum Sing Lee, again at UBC. Catherine is an active performer, teacher and adjudicator who strongly believes in the value of music in children’s lives and sees teaching music as giving young students ‘a gift for life’. Catherine has been a BC Registered Music Teacher for the past 28 years and served several terms on the South Fraser branch executive council and festival committees. In an attempt to make music accessible and affordable to her local community, Catherine has also hosted more than 30 “house concerts” in her home over the last 12 years featuring performing artists from universities and music schools. Catherine is a member of the Canadian Music Festival Adjudicators’Association and has given classes and workshops throughout the province. She presently maintains a full private studio in Surrey, BC. He has established a reputation for excellence and has developed one of Canada’s outstanding programs for saxophonists and vocal jazz, offering engaging and creative opportunities for his students. He has a bachelor of music, comprehensive with distinction, a bachelor of education, choral and instrumental and a masters in music performance. Wendell is an active performer of neo-classical and romantic works for the saxophone. He has been clinician for middle and high school choral and instrumental ensembles on Vancouver Island. In addition to being a much sought after clinician and mentor, his classical and jazz choral arrangements have been performed in Britain and North America. Wendell is a concert saxophonist, music performance instructor and director of University of Victoria Vocal Jazz Ensemble. He is founder and host for Westcoast Classical Saxophone which features professionals and students from various post-secondary educational institutions in BC.
