After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar. Air pollution, both indoor and outdoor, has been a growing concern in Pakistan. With rapid population growth and urbanization, Pakistan is facing the worst air quality it has experienced since its existence. As per the World Health Organization’s guidelines, Pakistan’s air quality is considered unsafe with the cities of Lahore and Karachi frequenting the list of the top five most polluted cities in the world and it estimates that Pakistanis on average are losing two and half years of their life expectancy due to exposure to harmful air. Significant sources of air pollution are transportation, industrial emissions (brick kilns, factories and power plants), crop burning, and transboundary pollution from neighboring countries. On the occasion of the World Environment Day 2021, country through systematic monitoring and implementation the Ministry of Climate Change (MOCC) of Pakistan is of various policy, technological, and management-based announcing the new Pakistan Clean Air Plan (PCAP) which measures. was prepared with the support of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) funded Technical Assistance project on ADB is currently supporting several other air quality related “Strengthening Knowledge and Actions for Air Quality investment projects in Pakistan under the transport, Improvement”. The project aims to improve air quality and energy and urban sectors. The proposed ADB’s country livability in 7 Asian cities through establishment of Clean partnership strategy (CPS) of Pakistan (2021-2025) Air Action Plans (CAAP). 2 of the 7 cities are Peshawar and supports a low carbon, climate resilient, and green recovery Sialkot in Pakistan. through (i) mainstreaming of climate and environment as a cross-cutting issue across all sectors; and (ii) delivering The revised PCAP assesses ongoing air pollution reduction an increasing number of projects that are predicated on efforts being made by national and local stakeholders in climate and environmental objectives.
