This Ordinance may be cited as ‘“‘The Supplementary Short Title. Appropriation Ordinance, 1924.” 2. GENERAL RULES. IN EXERCISE of the powers conferred by Section 47 of the East Africa Railways Ordinance, 1910, the Uganda Railway Administration with the sanction of the Governor-in-Council, has made the following General Rules. These Rules maybe cited as ‘The Railway General (Amend- ment) Rules, 1924,’’ and shall be read as one with the Railway General Rules, 1928, hereinafter referred to as ‘‘the Principal Rules.” 1. Clause (16), Sub-clause (¢) of Rule 1 of the Principal Rules is hereby cancelled and the following sub-clause substituted ‘theretor :— “‘(c) Anyy other pperson actingg in charge8 of a station. “Haplanation:—The Senior Railway Servant actually and in fact on duty within station limits shall be deemed to be the Station Master.”’ 2. Clause (c) of Rule 31 of the Principal Rules is hereby amended by the addition thereto of the following paragraph :— “‘An officer’s coach or a damaged truck shall not be attached behind a brake van except during daylight. In such a case the tail light must be securely wired on to the rear buffer of such coach in order to denote that ib is the last vehicle.’ 8. Rule 31 of the Principal Ruies is hereby further amended by the addition thereto of the following clause :— “(f) Engines working outside station limits, with or without vehicles attached, shall carry two white side lights in front.’’ 4. Clause (a) of Bule 61 of the Principal Rules is hereby amended. by the addition thereto of the following sentence :— “On no account may this duty be performed by any member of the menial staff (such as a native pointsman), nor may the custody of ‘authorities to proceed’ be entrusted to such person. B. Clause (d) and Clause (e), Sub-clause (v) of Rule 62 of the Principal Rules are hereby cancelled. 6. Rule 68 of the Principal Rules is hereby cancelled. 7. Rule 69 of the Principal Rules is hereby amended by the deletion therefrom of the words ‘‘on either side.’’ 8. Rule 175 of the Principal Rules is hereby amended by the addition thereto of the following sentence :— “Ae must also sound the whistle whenever the train is about to pass through astation without stopping.’’ 9. Rule 176 of the Principal Rules is hereby amended by adding the words ‘‘and when approaching alevel crossing”’ after the word ‘‘tunnel’’ whenever that word appears therein.
